Othello

A GUEST PERFORMANCE FROM PASSEPARTOUT THEATRE PRODUCTION AT SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

A fresh and different puppetry version of Shakespeare’s drama about human power-hungriness –as a cheerful and formidable/bloody chess for the whole family!

Two political spin doctors meet at a game of chess. On the chessboard, there isn’t room for any scruples –it is a well-known fact that all is fair in war for power and love – and the history unfolds about how the crafty footman Jago with dirty tricks and lies distorts the head of the naive and lovingly war lord Othello – only to gain the power himself.

Othello’s individual jealousy drama is toned down and instead there is full focus on Shakespeare’s quick political clarity, and with it the cynical game with others’ feelings, that takes place in the corridors of power. And as it is – no one is spared, no witnesses, everyone dies – less than 30 minutes’ nonverbal, solemn entertainment for children and adults.
