PRACTICAL INFORMATION

HamletScenen presents world-class open-air theatre. We never cancel a performance before the specified starting point.

THE WEATHER

HamletScenen presents performances in the open air at Kronborg Castle as part of the Shakespeare Festival. Danish summers can be unpredictable. So audiences are recommended to bring clothes appropriate to the weather forecast: a warm sweater and a snug blanket. Read the HamletScenen weather guidelines in the context of performances at the Shakespeare Festival

Shakespeare introduction before the show

Don’t miss our Shakespeare introduction “Shakespeare was here”. It starts at 7.15pm and it is an entertaining and remarkable one-man-show about an unusual story, which will forever link Shakespeare, Hamlet and Kronborg in one of the world’s biggest mysteries.

NUMBERED SEATS

Seats on the grandstand facing the Shakespeare Festival stage are numbered. Depending on availability of seats for each performance, you can decide where you would like to sit for the performance when you buy your ticket/s.

CHILDREN

HamletScenen and the Shakespeare Festival welcome young Shakespeare fans and theatregoers of all ages. At the same time, we ask members of the audience to note, and respect the age limit for each performance.
Where no age limit is specified, the general age limit of 6 years old applies. Children under the age of 15 should be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. During performances, children must sit on their own seats and be able to produce their own tickets if requested to do so.
Remember to bring warm clothing for all ages. It can get chilly when evening descends on the

Shakespeare Festival.

YOUNG PEOPLE AND STUDENTS

Young people and children under the age of 25 and/or students are entitled to discount tickets to our performances – whether alone or in groups. Select Student or Young People’s Tickets when purchasing tickets and remember your student ID card or other proof of identity when you attend the performance.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING

The use of cameras, recording devices and cell phones is not allowed during a performance.
Mobile phones and other monitors are disruptive for both you and other audience members. So we ask members of our audiences to keep all devices switched off during the performance.

Ticket holders consent to being filmed and photographed for HamletScenen’s PR and publishing purposes.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

Our picnic is always freshly made with love and local produce. Enjoy the picnic before the performance with view to Sweden, Elsinore and Kronborg’s spire. Picnic needs to be booked in advance, and on the latest at 12pm two days prior to your visit. Your preordered picnic can be picked up in the theatre bar from 5.30pm.
