A THEATRE CONCERT AT SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL 2018

A magical night where musicians, singers and ballet dancers adopt a playful approach and use non-traditional methods, when they meet in the open air for this year’s in‑house production Shakespeare in concert at Kronborg Castle.

The neoclassical and ground-breaking trombonist and composer Elias Faingersh took the public by storm when he guested at the Shakespeare Festival in 2016. He is now returning, this time in the musical and artistic company of the DANIA Brass Ensemble: a group of unique and highly praised musicians composing their own material and interpreting others with finesse. On stage, they have also invited Percussionist Jonathan Jakshøj giving an edge and uplifting the compositions to another level.

Principal dancer Susanne Grinder and Soloist Jon Axel Fransson from The Royal Danish Ballet have both an impressive résumé and have danced sublime and emotional performances throughout the world. Together, they join forces in this year´s concert accompanied by DANIA Brass Ensemble, Victor Sørensen and Jean-Hee Lee, both extraordinary violinists who have won awards for their musical wit.

One of the world’s few tenors/haute-contre, Valdemar Villadsen, will with his gracious voice spoil the audience to the fullest. He masters being both touching, surprising, strong and sensitive and sings with a beauty which needs to be heard.

Tatiana Andersen Camre has made the beautiful costumes inspired by motives from Kronborg Castle, mostly embracing the storytelling from and about this historical place.

Together they explore William Shakespeare’s fabulous universe and challenge what we think we know. Treat yourself to a surprise in the open air at this year’s Shakespeare Festival!
