Woods of Birnam Company

The German band “Woods of Birnam” with their frontman, actor and musician Christian Friedel, presents a spectacular and poignant hybrid of play and concert based on Shakespeare’s classic.

A bleak tale of Macbeth and his self-created nightmare, entirely tailored for icon Christian Friedel and his band. An intense drama supported by  strong video and lighting design, which, like a kind of architectural light show, enchants Kronborg under the night sky.

In front of the eyes of the audience, the power-hungry Scotsman is eaten up by his own guilt, as a consequence of his own fateful decisions.

The German world star Christian Friedel will perform at the Elsinore Shakespeare Festival on August 9th – 12th. His latest international and critically acclaimed film The Zone of Interest premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on 19 May 2023, winning both the Grand Prix and the FIPRESCI Award. This autumn sees the season premiere of the German neo-noir TV series BABYLON BERLIN with Christian Friedel in a leading role in this critically acclaimed TV production created by the famous Hollywood director Tom Tykwer.

The performance is easily accessible to all curious theater lovers with Danish and English subtitles.

NB! Due to the storm, the performance has been moved to The Culture Yard, Allegade 2, 3000 Elsinore (Helsingør).

AUDIENCE WITH DISABILITIES:
There is one wheelchair space for each performance. Lift from entrance to the Dining Room available for wheelchair access and any guest with walking difficulties.
Possibility of free companion ticket.

1,5 hours, no intermission.
