Performed in English with Danish supertitles
Duration time: Approx. 130 minutes with a 15 min. interval
SHAKESPEARE IN CONCERT
11th of August 2024 at 3pm
Co-production with Elsinore Chamber Opera
Duration time: 120 minutes
COMPLEMENTARY SHAKESPEARE INTRODUCTION
Every evening before performances at Elsinore Shakespeare Festival you will have the opportunity to get a proper introduction to Shakespeare for free. This is a short and joyful appetizer on facts on how, what and why Kronborg and Shakespeare are linked in story and history. This complementary introduction begins at 6:15 pm for HAMLET and TROILUS & CRESSIDA and at 2:15 pm for SHAKESPEARE IN CONCERT.
If you perchase tickets online for any of the performances at Elsinor Shakespeare Festival, you will get more information about the complementary Shakespeare-intro in an email prior to your visit.
ABOUT ELSINORE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
For more than 200 years the characters of Shakespeare have been unfolded at Kronborg. And every year in the month of August tradegies and comedies come to life as worldclass artists and theatre companies from around the world stay true to tradition when HamletScenen proudly present Elsinore Shakespeare Festival.
Since 2008 HamletScenen has lived the legacy and hosted the oldest Shakespeare Theatre tradition in the world. The tradition was founded in 1816 right here in Elsinore at Kronborg – Home of Hamlet. Elsinore Shakespeare Festival take the lead by celebrating William Shakespeare´s authorship in open air with spectacular shows and stage magic, including the uncertainties of the Scandinavian Summer Sky – a tricky but always beautiful companion.
The performances at Elsinore Shakespeare Festival are all performed by some of the most recoqnized and groundbreaking stage artists and theatre companies from Denmark and countries around the world. They are all original pieces build on the bones of Shakespeare´s everlasting themes and will unfold on the grand stage on the UNESCO Heritage grounds of Kronborg Castle. With this location we guarantee the audience a unique theatrical experience and a night to remember at Elsinore Shakespeare Festival.

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday at 10.00 – 16.00.
Tuesday & Friday at 10.00 – 15.00
ATTENTION:
- The performances take place outdoors
- The theater bar is open from 6.00 PM
- We welcome the audience to the stand 30 minutes before the performance
- Bring warm clothes, blankets and possibly rain clothes (umbrellas are not allowed)
- Toilets are located on site at the festival area
- We begin and complete performances as long as it is safe for audience and cast
